Three 16-year-olds are charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated rape and deprivation of liberty committed in the night of Sunday 3 May in Oslo. According to aftenposten.no, police believe the three boys acted in an organised manner with prior planning.
The four complainants in the case are reported to have offered escort services. During one of the robberies, aggravated rape was also committed. Police have not publicly disclosed the specific circumstances that make the rape aggravated, but state that a firearm was used during the incidents.
Two of the arrested individuals were remanded in custody at Oslo District Court on Tuesday, the third on Wednesday. All three remain in custody until 19 May. All three will turn 17 during the year.
– The police regard the case concerning serious crimes committed by young people as extremely grave. The case is therefore given high priority and is being investigated with considerable resources, said police prosecutor Marie Steen Habberstad in a press release on Friday.
Habberstad confirms that two of the three suspects have been interviewed, and that all three are known to police from earlier – albeit to varying degrees in the records.
– The investigation so far suggests that the actions were organised and planned. For this reason, the police are seeking information about the case or about other similar incidents, she said.
Police stress that they are in an early investigative phase and do not wish to release further information in light of the investigation. Earlier in the week, police indicated that further arrests could be forthcoming, but this has not yet occurred.
Trine Rjukan, counsel for the woman who is said to have been subjected to aggravated rape, describes the situation as serious for her client.
– This has been extremely distressing and traumatic for her. She is in a state of shock at the moment, Rjukan told VG earlier this week.
