A volunteer from an environmental organisation discovered a deceased person on an uninhabited island in Norway. Police have been unable to identify the man and are now requesting assistance from abroad.

In mid-June, the remains of a man were found dead on an uninhabited island in Norway. A member of the environmental organisation "In The Same Boat" made the discovery whilst collecting rubbish on the beach. Representatives of the organisation told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that their team cleans approximately 70 per cent of Norway's coastline every year, and that volunteers must unfortunately be mentally prepared for such horrific discoveries.
According to initial data from the forensic examination, the man had been in the water for at least one week, but no more than four weeks. To help identify the person, police have released a description of the deceased and photographs of his personal belongings:
- Age: approximately 40 to 60 years;
- Height: unusually tall – around two metres;
- Shoes: large shoes (size 48) of the brand "Tommy Hilfiger";
- Jewellery: a white gold ring decorated with one blue and one white stone;
- Watch: a digital "Casio G-Shock" wristwatch with black strap.
Since no one in the relevant area matches this description, and no DNA matches have been found in national registers, investigators are searching for clues outside the country's borders. A police spokesperson emphasises that the authorities take seriously the theory that the person may be a foreign national. Therefore, information and images of the deceased's belongings are now being widely distributed through international channels, in the hope that someone will recognise the distinctive items.
