During the night into Sunday, police were called to Ruten in Sandnes town centre following a report that someone had been subjected to violence. The incident took place shortly after 02.30.

The patrol that responded came into contact with two men who had been in a physical altercation. One of them, a person in his early 20s, was taken to the police station.

According to operations manager Dag Steinkopf, the arrested man is to answer for several breaches: breach of the peace and order, having insulted a public official, and having refused to obey instructions from police.

The same night there was also a report of violence at a restaurant in central Stavanger. In that case, the perpetrator had left the scene before police arrived. The injured person was attended to by ambulance, and witnesses were interviewed at the scene. An investigation has been opened.
