Violent night in Bergen: brawls from Fana to city centre from 01:00
Bergen police responded to brawl after brawl during the night into Sunday. Two people were taken to hospital following violent incidents in Fana and Christian Michelsens gate.
Police rushed from incident to incident during Bergen night
During the night into Sunday, Bergen police were stretched thin after reports began flowing in from 01:00 onwards, according to ba.no.
"It has been a busy night," operations leader Tore André Brakstad told the newspaper on Sunday morning.
After a relatively quiet Saturday evening, the picture changed abruptly. Police first responded to a violent incident in Fana, where two people were taken to hospital and a casualty clinic respectively. In Hordnesskogen, two 18-year-old men were injured in separate violent incidents.
Around 02:30, a man was taken to hospital following a fight in Christian Michelsens gate – he was said to have dislocated his shoulder after falling to the ground. Four people aged 18 to 22 were involved in the incident.
"No case from the police side, a report may be filed later," operations leader Knut Dahl-Michelsen said.
Shortly after 04:00, two men – one in his 20s and one in his 30s – were removed from the Korskirken area following reports of a fight in which one of the parties allegedly showed a knife. Police quickly gained control of both, and no knife was found. No one was injured.
At the same time, police had to dispatch a patrol to Brugata in Os following reports of a fight involving three people. It turned out that a man had been pushed to the ground, but he was uninjured.
In Olav Kyrres gate, police received a report of another fight. When they arrived at the scene, no one was injured, and no one wished to file a report.
From Damsgård, at 04:00, came a report of a woman who had stood outside an address screaming for several hours. Police arrived at the scene and removed her.
Among the final jobs for the evening shift was a report of a broken window pane in Ladegårdsveiten. A man in his 30s who lived at the address admitted to being responsible.
