Arrest of man suspected in series of thefts
Officers from the Sulechów police station have arrested a 33-year-old suspected of committing a series of thefts in Zielona Góra county, according to Lubuska Police. Investigators established that the man committed several crimes in different towns on a single day.
A report of a stolen vehicle made to the duty officer at the police station prompted officers dealing with property crime to launch an operational investigation. After analysing the evidence, officers quickly identified the suspect — a 33-year-old known to them from previous contact — and arrested him.
According to criminal investigation findings, the crimes spanned four towns. The man first stole registration plates in Nowy Świat. Next, in Sulechów he took a motor vehicle, which he later abandoned in Kargowa. From that same vehicle in Kargowa he stole a bicycle. In Trzebiechów he committed another bicycle theft and took a radio and other items from an open vehicle.
The suspect has been charged with five offences: theft of registration plates, theft of a motor vehicle, two bicycle thefts and theft of items from a vehicle. The criminal code provides for sentences ranging from three months to five years imprisonment for these crimes. The case is being handled under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office in Świebodzin; the final decision will be made by the court.
