Police searched for fraudster with 79 SIM cards for months
According to wielkopolska.policja.gov.pl, officers from the Provincial Police Headquarters in Poznań detained a 21-year-old from Łódź Province suspected of numerous internet frauds. The man listed electronic equipment for sale that he did not own, using popular e-commerce platforms.
The Department for Combating Cyber Crime established that the perpetrator operated according to a fixed scheme. After concluding a transaction and receiving payment from the buyer, he avoided further contact. During a several-month investigation, officers identified 79 SIM cards used by the man. Teleinformation work made it possible to establish his identity and address of residence.
On 19 October, police officers travelled to Łódź Province and detained the suspect. The man initially denied involvement in the frauds. Officers found two mobile phones — one on him, the other in a greenhouse on the property.
The investigation revealed at least 22 frauds totalling over 53,000 zlotys. The suspect was charged with fraud, which carries a sentence of up to 8 years in prison. Police supervision and financial bail were imposed on him. The case remains in its developmental phase.
