Man arrested while evading the courts

Police officers from the Oleśnica district have arrested a 49-year-old from Kobyla Góra municipality who was hiding in his home despite repeated checks by officers. The man was wanted on a warrant issued by the district court in Oleśnica — he had a one-year prison sentence to serve.

According to wlkp24.info, during earlier visits members of the wanted man's family consistently told police officers that the 49-year-old was not at home. The man worked outside his place of residence, which further complicated locating and apprehending him. During each check, they received the same assurances of his absence.

During the latest visit, however, officers decided to enter the apartment. They found the wanted man there. The 49-year-old was apprehended and, in accordance with the court's decision, was taken to the detention centre, where he is to serve his sentence.

Police also informed family members of the potential legal consequences of their conduct. Harbouring a wanted person or helping them evade criminal liability may constitute a criminal offence. Depending on the circumstances, the family members' actions may result in charges of obstructing apprehension and expose them to criminal liability. Officers stressed that knowingly providing false information to law enforcement is significant from a legal standpoint.

The case is an example of typical police action aimed at executing a court sentence and apprehending a person evading responsibility. The arrest was the result of consistent action by officers who — contrary to the family's assurances — entered the home and found the wanted man.
