Police arrest couple with seven litres of DMT before ritual
Officers from Katowice halted a psychotropic ritual and arrested the organisers. The couple had prepared a brew containing a hallucinogenic substance for a group of participants.

Arrests in psychotropic substance case
Police officers from the Drug Crime Suppression Division of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Katowice arrested a man and woman in possession of over seven litres of DMT — a psychotropic substance classified in Group I-P. According to slaska.policja.gov.pl, the couple were preparing a ritual ceremony during which participants were to consume a brew containing dimethyltryptamine.
Investigators established the location of the planned session in Kielce County. Upon entering the property, police officers found a group of people preparing for the ritual, including a 65-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, who served as the organisers. A search revealed over seven litres of prepared brew containing a psychotropic substance.
DMT is classified in the same category as LSD and MDMA due to the absence of medical applications and high abuse risk. Consumption of the substance causes changes in consciousness, vomiting, increased blood pressure and accelerated heart rate. The brew used in the so-called Ayahuasca ritual — a practice involving communal consumption of the decoction — poses a particular health hazard because it takes place outside medical supervision.
The arrested couple faced charges of possession of narcotics and psychotropic substances. The offence carries a sentence of up to ten years' imprisonment. Both admitted guilt. The prosecutor imposed police supervision, financial surety and a ban on leaving the country.
