Portel father arrested for systematic abuse of daughter and sharing of images in paedophile networks

The Judicial Police arrested on Tuesday, 3 November, a 35-year-old man residing in Portel on suspicion of having sexually abused his daughter for years and of having shared images of the crimes on child pornography platforms. The case is reported by Correio da Manhã.

The victim, currently 13 years old, was subjected to abuse from the age of 6 or 7. According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the accused is charged with the commission of at least 864 crimes of aggravated child sexual abuse, all committed against his daughter since 2019.

The crimes occurred in the residence shared with the girl's mother — the suspect's partner — and with another child of the couple, a baby of ten months. The child was, according to the accusation, "forced to engage in acts of sexual significance" in a systematic manner over several years.

The predator filmed and photographed the abuses, subsequently making the images available on computer platforms "accessible to an indeterminate number of people". The Public Prosecutor's Office adds that the accused is also charged with over 7,000 crimes of aggravated child pornography, including material that victimises his own daughter.

"At the time of arrest he had with him and inside the residence, electronic and computer devices, where thousands of files were found containing images and films of children and young people, under the age of 14, in erotic poses, lewdly displaying their bodies, their genitals and, in other files, engaging in explicit sexual acts", explains the Public Prosecutor's Office in a statement.

The court ordered the preventive detention of the suspect. A ban on all contact with the daughter, with the partner or with the baby son was also imposed.
