Traffic police officer detained for assault at superclásico: Municipality opens disciplinary inquiry
The Municipality of Asunción has opened a disciplinary inquiry against Nicolás Fariña Colucci, a traffic police officer detained for kicking a police officer during the disturbances at the superclásico.

According to lanacion.com.py, the Municipality of Asunción took a stance on Thursday regarding the detention of a traffic police officer from the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) involved in the disturbances at last Sunday's superclásico. The official was identified as Nicolás Fariña Colucci, 37 years old, accused of kicking a police officer who was on the ground during incidents caused by Cerro Porteño supporters in the stands of the Defensores del Chaco stadium. The disturbances forced the suspension of the match.
Mayor Luis Bello immediately ordered the opening of a disciplinary inquiry against the officer. The measure will be subject to the outcome of the criminal proceedings initiated by the Public Ministry, in accordance with current regulations.
Through an official statement, the capital municipality expressed that "from this administration, we reiterate our stance of not tolerating, under any circumstances, this type of behaviour". The document adds that the officer's actions "do not represent the values, ethics or commitment of this institution to the citizens" and warns that "we will not permit inappropriate conduct that tarnishes the work carried out by public servants of good standing".
Bello also spoke through his X account, where he reaffirmed his position of "zero tolerance for acts of violence" and clarified that he ordered the opening of the inquiry "given the seriousness and flagrant nature of the facts". The municipal chief assured that the process "will be carried forward with the corresponding legal guarantees and with all the rigour that the case merits".
Fariña Colucci was detained this morning when arriving at his workplace.
