On Sunday morning, a 22-year-old man died after being struck by bullets fired by officers from the Tactical Support Division. The incident occurred on Route PY19, near kilometre 88.5, in the Acevedo Cué company, within the district of Alberdi, department of Ñeembucú.
The victim was identified as Federick Nahuel Cáceres Sosa. According to a report by the news outlet Última Hora, the officers allegedly believed the young man was part of a group that had committed a robbery in the area.
However, initial investigations indicate that Cáceres Sosa had no connection whatsoever with the crime that prompted the operation. Following the incident, police personnel deployed to the area of the confrontation.
The Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation into a possible case of extrajudicial killing.
