In the early morning hours of Monday, officers from the Anti-narcotics Directorate of the National Police executed a procedure at a residence in the Tablada Nueva neighbourhood, located in the city of Asunción. As a result, one person was taken into custody on suspicion of dealing narcotics on a small scale.

The detainee is named Víctor Daniel Villasanti and is 33 years old. Judicial records indicate that he had previously faced justice for a robbery with aggravating circumstances recorded in 2014, as well as for other minor offences.

At the location, uniformed officers managed to seize a bag containing approximately 500 grammes of marijuana, a quantity that experts estimate could be divided into approximately 376 portions intended for street sales. In addition to the drug, the seizure included mobile communication devices and cash.

Notably, the property had a video surveillance system installed in the external corridors, designed to alert those inside of any police movement. Despite this security mechanism, the agents managed to take the suspect by surprise, who was sleeping at the time of the raid.

The operation is part of the planned actions under Plan Sumar, the state programme aimed at reducing drug abuse and illegal distribution in the country.
