Prosecution calls on possible victims of arrested Argentinian to testify
The Specialised Unit in the Fight Against Human Trafficking issued an official communication urging anyone who may have been a victim of Ariel Fernando Morán, or who has information about his actions, to contact the prosecution office. According to abc.com.py, the measure was driven by prosecutor María Isabel Arnold.
The prosecution has established the number 0981 667 482 to receive reports, provide psychological support and coordinate comprehensive assistance for victims. The institution guarantees absolute confidentiality of data and protection of the identity of those who contact them.
The case: rescue of a missing adolescent
Morán, a 56-year-old Argentinian citizen, was arrested earlier this week following the rescue of an adolescent reported as missing, whom he allegedly held against her will. During the criminal proceedings, the prosecution charged him with aggravated coercion and violation of parental authority, and does not rule out his possible involvement in a human trafficking network.
During searches and interventions at the defendant's residence, investigators seized various sexual objects and other evidence that were incorporated into the investigation file.
Other young women recount their experiences
Following the public disclosure of the case, several young women approached media outlets and investigators to describe their experiences with Morán, accusing him of abuse, threats and sexual assault following the administration of substances.
In his previous public statements, the defendant claimed to have met the minor through an intermediary contacted on the Tinder application. However, the Public Ministry continues gathering evidence and appeals for public cooperation to determine whether there are other victims associated with the same modus operandi.
