According to abc.com.py, Commissioner Humberto Aquino confirmed that Argentine architect Ariel Fernando Morán—detained on the Costanera in Asunción while in the company of an adolescent—had an active prohibition on leaving the country in Argentina. Investigators suspect he entered Paraguay clandestinely to evade immigration controls and continue with his activities.
Aquino further noted that the accused "comes and goes" from Paraguayan territory for several years. The Argentine National Gendarmerie communicated to local authorities that Morán has accumulated multiple complaints in his country, including the completion of a sentence. Unofficial sources indicate that he was also supposed to comply with a measure of home detention due to a judicial case open in Buenos Aires.
During a search of his residence in San Bernardino, investigators found a room fitted out as a setting for pornographic filming. Several computer devices were seized at the location and will be analysed by experts.
According to complaints, Morán allegedly forced women to engage in intimate relations in order to film them without consent. That material was allegedly subsequently used as an extortion tool, threatening to distribute the videos if the victims attempted to end the relationship or leave the place.
The Specialised Unit in the Fight Against Human Trafficking, through prosecutor María Isabel Arnold, issued a communication urging anyone who may have been a victim of the accused—or who has relevant information—to contact the prosecution office.
On Thursday, Morán was transferred to Emboscada Penitentiary, whilst the investigation continues.
