Officials from the Interior Ministry ruled out that the electronic ankle bracelet found on Jonas Machado Da Silva—a 23-year-old man detained on Tuesday—belongs to the country's surveillance device inventory.
From the department responsible for monitoring these devices, they clarified that the young man never appeared in their records as a beneficiary of this measure. Having no information about the equipment's origin, those responsible for the area were unable to determine which nation it came from, although everything suggests it could be from Brazil, considering that the defendant resides in a zone bordering that territory.
The arrest took place at the sub-police station of Colonia Alborada, following a confrontation on the Karanda'y Poty property. The individual was already being sought by law enforcement due to an active court order naming him as the alleged perpetrator of domestic abuse, coercion and disturbance of public order on a rural property.
The accusation states that Machado Da Silva allegedly struck blows and made threats against his partner, in addition to intimidating other people who were on the premises.
