Eight arrested in Luque after dismantling drug distribution centre in Palma Loma neighbourhood
Anti-narcotics officers dismantled a drug sales point in Luque and arrested eight people, among them alleged individuals linked to barrabravas of Sportivo Luqueño.
Anti-drugs operation in Luque yields eight arrests and more than 150 doses seized
An operation by the National Police's Anti-narcotics Department dismantled an alleged drug distribution centre located in the Palma Loma neighbourhood of Luque, Central department, on Wednesday night, according to elnacional.com.py.
Officers intervened simultaneously at two properties that are believed to have been used for drug trafficking. The operation was carried out based on prior information about how the scheme operated, which made it possible to coordinate the raids at the same time.
The eight arrested
As a result of the operations, eight people were taken into custody: Miguel Ángel Ruiz Pereira, aged 28; Alexander Emanuel Galeano Silva, aged 22; Rodrigo Ramón Cardozo Coronel, aged 31; Diego Damián Cardozo Coronel, aged 21; Jorge Luis Medina Ferreira, aged 41; Marcos Manuel Torres Díaz, aged 33; Laura Noelia Ocampos, aged 35; and Máxima Milagros Cardozo Coronel, aged 19.
According to the police report, the suspects sold drugs on the street and used a tent set up in the area to carry out transactions.
Seizures: crack, cocaine and vehicles
During the operation, officers seized 42.8 grams of suspected crack cocaine, equivalent to approximately 120 doses, and five grams of alleged cocaine hydrochloride, distributed across approximately 30 doses. In addition, agents confiscated mobile phones, two automobiles and two motorcycles that, according to authorities, were part of the organisation's distribution logistics.
All those arrested were taken to police headquarters and handed over to the Public Ministry.
Prosecutor in charge; link to barrabravas
The investigation was placed under the responsibility of prosecutor Julia Báez, of the Specialised Unit for the Fight Against Drug Trafficking, who ordered the seizure of all evidence found during the raids.
According to information provided by those involved in the operation, several of the arrested individuals are believed to be linked to the barrabravas of Sportivo Luqueño, known as "Chancholigans". Authorities do not rule out further proceedings to identify other possible members of the drug-dealing scheme operating in the area.
