In the early hours of Monday, personnel from the third metropolitan police station arrested Walter Ramón Ávalos in the San Roque neighbourhood of the Paraguayan capital. The operation took place when a patrol found him climbing over the fence of a private property.
The head of the station, Juan González, confirmed to Última Hora that the incident occurred at the intersection of Curupayty and Azara. The officers observed the individual scaling the perimeter wall; after subduing him, they seized items he had stolen from inside.
The arrested man had a wound on one of his lower extremities, caused when he threw himself down from the height of the wall. For this reason, the officers initially transported him to a medical facility to receive treatment. Once discharged, he was placed in custody at the police station, awaiting orders from the Public Ministry.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the suspect has an extensive criminal record: thirteen previous judicial entries, mostly linked to theft and robbery.
