The operation originated with a request for assistance from the Paraguay National Police. The man allegedly crossed the border with the child without maternal authorisation, prompting an international investigation. Chaco detectives deployed various tracking tools, including telephone signal monitoring and location records.
A decisive breakthrough came when Meta Platforms identified a messaging account linked to the suspect, which initially located him in Clorinda, Formosa. It was subsequently established that he had boarded a long-distance bus bound for Corrientes, with a stop in Resistencia. A new connection recorded from that city confirmed his movement.
Through a review of surveillance footage from the bus station, officers identified an individual matching the description of the wanted man disembarking from a passenger vehicle with a baby near midday. Using that information, they set up an operation that resulted in the suspect's apprehension and the child's rescue.
Investigators had verified that the detainee planned to travel to Mendoza during the early morning hours, leading them to infer that his ultimate goal was to reach Chilean territory. Once the girl was rescued, the Public Prosecutor's Office ordered the Under-Secretariat for Childhood, Adolescence and Family to take charge of her pending her return to her family of origin. It was confirmed that she was in good health.
The father was remanded in custody pending the procedural measures corresponding to the international restitution process for the minor. The case remains under review and the possible charges that could be filed against him have not yet been determined. Coordination between institutions of both nations remains active.
