Three men were arrested in Asunción following a police pursuit linked to an alleged attempted homicide, hoy.com.py reported. The apprehended individuals were identified as Carlos Mathias Moreno Maldonado (32), Isaac Demetrio Miranda Sandoval (26) and Ismael Panteón Acuña (30).

According to the report from the 7th Metropolitan Police Station, officers on preventive patrol received notice from a man who requested assistance and reported that moments earlier a subject had attempted to shoot him with a firearm without managing to carry out the attack.

The uniformed officers immediately began a pursuit that concluded at the intersection of avenida Bruno Guggiari and Sajonia, where they intercepted the vehicle in which the suspects were travelling.

During the procedure, a .22 calibre revolver of Argentine origin was seized, with five unfired cartridges. A Toyota Allex vehicle, which had allegedly been used for the escape, was also retained.

Police records indicate that Moreno Maldonado has a history of aggravated robbery, whilst Acuña has a history of wilful homicide and theft. No record was found for Miranda Sandoval.

The three detainees and the evidence were transferred to the police station. The case was communicated to the Public Ministry, which is continuing investigations to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
