On Friday morning, the building housing the Vaslui Court of Appeal and District Court was the subject of a bomb threat transmitted by email, according to Gândul, citing Agerpres. Emergency response teams conducted checks on the ground, and the threat proved to be false.
The court leadership announced that activity would continue normally, with the institution not being evacuated during the verification process.
The Vaslui County Police Inspectorate issued a press release with details concerning the incident. "We were informed that a public institution in Vaslui municipality received a message of a threatening nature at its email address. Following the notification, competent structures are carrying out specific checks to establish the exact situation," said representatives of the Vaslui County Police Inspectorate.
According to the same source, preliminary checks did not reveal any evidence confirming that the threat was real. "Based on the initial data resulting from the preliminary checks carried out by the Vaslui County Police Inspectorate with institutional partners, there was no evidence to confirm that the threat was a genuine one, so the institution was not evacuated," the statement noted.
According to Vremea Nouă, the email appeared to have been sent from a location in Ukraine. The Vaslui County Police Inspectorate clarified, however, that this detail did not necessarily imply that the sender was a Ukrainian citizen, with the possibility existing that the location was used as a diversion to mask the actual origin of the message.
The investigation continues to establish the identity of the person behind the threat and the exact circumstances of the message being sent.
