A man has been remanded in custody for 30 days after allegedly threatening a police officer on multiple occasions with acts of violence, in the night of Thursday to Friday, 21 August 2026. According to agerpres.ro, the Prosecutor's Office attached to Râmnicu Sărat District Court sought and obtained the preventive arrest of the accused, investigated for outrage.

The incident took place between 00:40 and 00:50, when officers from the Râmnicu Sărat Municipal Police – Public Order Bureau intervened at the scene following multiple calls to the emergency number 112. The reports concerned noise made during a party organised in a building in the locality.

What happened at the scene

The police officers who arrived at the address fined the building's owner for disturbing the peace. At the same time, a guest – known to have a criminal record – allegedly became aggressive and made threats to beat a police officer who was performing his duties, according to judicial sources cited by AGERPRES.

The Prosecutor's Office attached to Râmnicu Sărat District Court describes the situation in explicit terms in its official statement: "On 21.08.2026, between 00:40 and 00:50, the accused (...) made, on multiple occasions, threats of acts of violence, namely threats to assault, to the injured party (...), a police officer within the Râmnicu Sărat Municipal Police – Public Order Bureau, whilst he was performing his duties and conducting activities specific to intervention at the scene following reports made through the emergency call 112."

The court admitted the prosecutor's proposal

Râmnicu Sărat District Court admitted the prosecutors' proposal and ordered the preventive arrest of the man for 30 days. The case concerns the offence of outrage, provided for in the Penal Code for acts of threats or violence directed against a public official exercising his function.
