Singer Dana Marijuana sentenced to 5 years and 4 months for drug trafficking
Constanța Court has issued a sentence in the drug trafficking case of singer Dana Marijuana and two co-defendants. The sentences are not final.

Constanța Court has issued a sentence in the drug trafficking case in which Daniela Coteanu, known by the stage name Dana Marijuana, Neagu Cristian Alin and Nicula Mugur Valentin were sent to trial, according to Gândul. The court imposed a sentence of 5 years and 4 months in prison with execution on Daniela Coteanu. Neagu Cristian Alin was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months, whilst Nicula Mugur Valentin received 6 years and 4 months. The sentence is not final.
The three were arrested in preventive custody in August after a traffic police unit detected them during the night of 21 to 22 August whilst they were travelling in a motor vehicle in the 2 Mai resort. During the check carried out, police officers discovered and seized approximately 100 grammes of cannabis.
Subsequently, DIICOT implemented four search warrants for home searches in Constanța and Giurgiu counties, as well as in Bucharest municipality. "There were discovered and seized 100 ecstasy tablets (high-risk drug), quantities of amphetamine (high-risk drug), ketamine (risk drug), 21 tablets to be analysed, as well as other evidence materials," IPJ communicated at that time.
Dana Marijuana, whose real name is Daniela-Elena Coteanu, is a hip-hop singer who became known at the end of the 1990s. She started her career in 1994, and notoriety was brought to her by the piece "Tupeu de borfaș", released in 1998 alongside the La Familia band on the album "Nicăieri nu-i ca acasă". She followed with her own albums, including "Cea mai fidelă fată" and "Fii pe fază".
Over time, the artist has also been involved in family business in the jewellery field, creating accessories for Romanian designers. In 2019 she published an autobiographical book entitled "Poveste de cartier".
