Criminal case for unlicensed mining: 11 warrants executed in Arad and Bihor
Police officers from the Economic Crime Investigation Service in Arad have opened a criminal case for tax evasion targeting the administrator of a commercial company in Bihor county, reports News.ro. The suspect is alleged to have conducted mining activities without a permit or concession licence and to have sold mineral aggregates without issuing fiscal receipts.
According to the Arad County Police Inspectorate, investigations carried out together with a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to Arad Court established that, during the period 2022–2025, the company in question is alleged to have exploited a gravel pit in the Feldioara area without the necessary legal authorisations. From the same location, mineral aggregates — ballast and sorting material — are alleged to have been sold in the absence of any fiscal documents.
On 4 September 2026, 11 residential search warrants were executed in Arad and Bihor counties. The operations targeted the offices of several commercial companies, other gravel pits, as well as the homes of persons of interest in the case.
Following the searches, investigators seized documents with evidentiary value, intended to document the criminal activity. The investigation continues under the supervision of the case prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to Arad Court.
