Second Criminal Case in Romania Against the Tate Brothers
Andrew and Tristan Tate have been sent for trial in a new case in Romania, in which they are accused of trafficking of minors, according to G4Media. The case was registered on Thursday, 3 September, at Bucharest Tribunal, according to the court portal.
At present, the two brothers are under arrest in the United States, where they face extradition proceedings to the United Kingdom for a total of 59 counts, including rape, grievous bodily harm and sex trafficking offences.
This is not the first criminal case opened against them in Romania. In 2022, the Tate brothers were sent for trial for rape, forming an organised criminal group and trafficking of persons. In November 2024, the court returned that case to DIICOT for the indictment to be redrafted, after procedural irregularities were found.
In February 2025, Andrew and Tristan Tate left Romania on a private aircraft bound for Florida, after DIICOT prosecutors had lifted the ban on them leaving the country. Ten days before their departure, the Financial Times had written that the Trump Administration had pressed Romania to lift the restrictions imposed on the Tate brothers.
Domestically, Tristan Tate became involved in the electoral campaign for the 2025 presidential elections, supporting candidates Victor Ponta and George Simion.
