The Public Prosecutor's Office attached to Arad District Court initiated criminal proceedings against a 17-year-old young man, identified by the initials C.R.D.G., for assault or other acts of violence and disturbance of public order and peace, according to glsa.ro.

According to the indictment, on 21 August 2026, at approximately 18:10, the accused was near a bar on Cocorilor Street in Arad. Following a verbal altercation, he struck an individual named M.M.C. with a beer bottle to the head. The victim suffered traumatic injuries requiring 5–6 days of medical care.

Prosecutors also found that the acts of violence disturbed public order and peace, causing a state of fear amongst those present at the scene.

This is not the minor's first case. During 2026, a non-custodial educational measure had already been imposed against the accused — supervision for a period of six months — also for assault or other acts of violence.

On 22 August 2026, the prosecutor's office referred the matter to the judge of rights and freedoms at Arad District Court with a proposal for arrest on remand. The judge accepted the proposal, issuing a remand warrant for 30 days.

The prosecutor's office states that investigations are being conducted in accordance with the presumption of innocence principle.
