According to Cotidianul.ro, the detention of the four accused followed one day after National Anticorruption Directorate prosecutors conducted searches at 26 locations, including at the Faculty of Medicine within Ovidius University in Constanța.
The National Anticorruption Directorate is investigating the alleged fraud of supplementary exams in the Anatomy discipline, held in the 2026 academic year. The case covers two sessions: 6–12 July 2026 and 1–6 September 2026.
According to the National Anticorruption Directorate statement, university assistant Talpeș Raluca allegedly repeatedly demanded and received sums of money as bribes from students enrolled in supplementary exams, in exchange for fraudulently passing anatomy colloquia and exams.
The three intermediaries — university assistant Batuhan Omeroglu, as well as two students identified by the initials I.A. and Z.I.D. — allegedly contributed to identifying interested students and collecting the sums of money. They allegedly guaranteed their passing, provided that the respective sums were paid.
At least 15 students are believed to have been involved to date, according to the National Anticorruption Directorate.
The sums requested allegedly varied between €600 for a colloquium and €2,500 for an exam, per student. The total value of the benefits established to date exceeds €37,100. From this sum, each intermediary allegedly retained a variable commission for each facilitation, with the remainder going to the accused Talpeș Raluca, in her capacity as examiner.
National Anticorruption Directorate prosecutors have requested the court to order the preventive arrest of all four accused. The investigation is ongoing, and the National Anticorruption Directorate specifies that other persons in the same case are also being investigated.
