Four arrested following robbery and drug trafficking: 2.4 kg cocaine and 6.1 kg heroin brought from Amsterdam

According to Jurnalul.ro, prosecutors from DIICOT have detained four men aged between 22 and 43, two of whom are recidivists and two members of the same family, following the discovery of over 8.5 kilograms of high-risk drugs. They are being investigated for aggravated robbery, complicity in international drug trafficking and domestic trafficking of high-risk drugs.

The case began on Sunday, following a call to 112 made by a man who was engaged in international transport of persons and goods. He stated that upon his return from the Netherlands, at the request of several passengers, he stopped in the area of the Avram Iancu locality, Bihor county. Immediately after the passengers had exited the minibus, the man was attacked by four individuals.

The assailants dealt him several blows with their fists to the head area, after which they removed two parcels from the vehicle's trailer. The victim also reported the disappearance of a sum of 500 euros which he had on him.

According to the driver's statement, the two parcels had been collected from Amsterdam and were to be delivered to an address in Romania, which was to be communicated to him later by the sender.

At the scene, a service dog specialised in detecting narcotics intervened, which signalled through repeated barking the presence of a specific drug odour inside the commercial vehicle, although the substances were not found at that moment.

On the basis of investigations, the victim's statements and those of several witnesses, the four men were identified together with the vehicle in which they were travelling. They were located and stopped in Timiș county.

Upon searching the vehicle, the service dog again signalled the presence of drugs in the two recovered parcels. After unwrapping the packaging and discovering a false bottom of the boxes, investigators found 12 bags containing approximately 8.5 kilograms of high-risk drugs: around 2.4 kilograms of cocaine and over 6.1 kilograms of heroin, intended for sale.

On Tuesday, the judge for rights and freedoms at Bihor Tribunal ordered the remand arrest of the four defendants for a period of 30 days.
