The National Anti-Corruption Directorate has opened a criminal investigation against Cristina Trăilă, Deputy Secretary General of Government, for complicity in trafficking in influence. PSD and AUR are calling for her immediate resignation.

Cristina Trăilă, Deputy Secretary General of Government, is under criminal investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate for complicity in trafficking in influence, according to rador.ro. The announcement immediately triggered reactions from several political parties.
According to anti-corruption prosecutors, Trăilă allegedly supported the efforts of Mihai Barbu, former chairman of PNL Iași, who used his influence to pressure the president of the National Sanitary Veterinary Authority and Food Safety to replace the head of the Sanitary Veterinary Department in Vaslui with a person favoured by businessman Fănel Bogos.
Bogos allegedly also sought to obtain compensation of approximately three million euros after a salmonella outbreak had been confirmed at one of his farms in Vaslui county.
PSD is calling on Cristina Trăilă to resign immediately and is telling interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan to "shine a light in his own house", claiming that his name appears in the same high-corruption criminal case. The Social Democrats claim that the situation seriously affects the image of the Government and Romania.
The Alliance for the Union of Romanians is also calling for Cristina Trăilă to be urgently removed from office, arguing that a senior official in a key position in the governmental apparatus, suspected in a case involving the use of political influence, cannot continue to hold the same office until her legal situation is clarified. AUR is also demanding full public explanations from Bolojan regarding his meeting and relationship with Fănel Bogos, whose name appears in the investigation.
Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that he will discuss the allegations against Cristina Trăilă during the day, following which he will make a decision. Bolojan added that he does not expect to be questioned in the case and that, should he be called, he does not believe this would have any implications for him.
According to information that has appeared in the public sphere, Fănel Bogos allegedly reached Bolojan in 2025, at the insistence of Mihai Barbu, but the meeting allegedly did not produce the result sought by the businessman.
