Shocking transcripts: how Andrew Tate controlled a girl recruited at age 15
The file forwarded to Bucharest Court includes messages in which Andrew Tate prohibited the victim from leaving the house. The Tate brothers allegedly obtained over 1.25 million dollars from the exploitation of the girl.
Case at Bucharest Court: the transcripts describing the control exercised by Andrew Tate over a minor
According to Digi24, the file transmitted to Bucharest Court contains transcripts of messages attributed to Andrew Tate, in which he prohibited a girl recruited at the age of 15 from leaving the residence or having days off. "You don't go anywhere unless I say it's okay. You're not allowed to go out", is shown in one of the messages included in the DIICOT indictment.
The case is built around a girl whom Andrew Tate allegedly recruited in 2012, when she was 15 years old. DIICOT prosecutors contend that both brothers knew the victim's age at the time of recruitment.
The "loverboy" method and promises of the future
Investigators describe a scheme in which Andrew Tate allegedly attracted the victim through the "loverboy" method: he would have declared his love for her and convinced her that their relationship was real, that they were going to start a family. "I will never love anyone more than I love you. I hope you know that for real", the victim wrote to Andrew Tate, according to the transcripts in the case file.
Tate's responses allegedly targeted financial objectives. "When the debts disappear, we'll have so much money that we can do anything, any holiday, any clothes, any car", he allegedly told her, according to the same documents.
Isolation, surveillance and assaults
According to DIICOT, the young woman was forced to produce pornographic material and conduct webcam chat activity, without the right to leave the house without approval. "If you go home even for one day, you'll be replaced", Andrew Tate allegedly told her in another message.
The victim noted in her own messages the condition she found herself in: "I've done everything since then to make you happy. I can't lock myself in the house and upset you when I try to have fun, to have a day off. I'm not a prisoner, a slave."
The file also contains accounts of episodes of physical violence. In one of these, Andrew Tate allegedly put his hands around the victim's neck and asked her to address the camera. "Tell the camera why you're being beaten", he allegedly said to her. "Because I don't listen", the girl allegedly answered, crying, according to the transcripts.
Investigators describe a system of control that included threats, emotional blackmail, constant surveillance and repeated physical assaults.
Tristan Tate's role
Tristan Tate allegedly contributed to keeping the girl under control and assured her that his brother's feelings were authentic. According to DIICOT, he allegedly managed the webcam chat accounts, monitored the victim's activity and tracked the achievement of the financial objectives set by Andrew Tate.
Additionally, Tristan Tate allegedly dealt with the collection and management of the sums obtained and constrained the victim in turn. Prosecutors also describe violent episodes in which he was directly involved.
Logistics and travel
The girl allegedly was transported repeatedly from the United Kingdom to Romania and housed in properties in Voluntari, Tunari and the Pipera area, where she was allegedly provided with the necessary infrastructure for webcam chat activity, investigators contend.
Revenue and luxury goods
During the period of exploitation, the Tate brothers allegedly obtained 1,251,833.30 dollars, representing approximately 80 per cent of the revenue generated through webcam chat. The victim allegedly received approximately 20 per cent of the total sums, according to DIICOT.
Part of the money allegedly was used to purchase four luxury automobiles, with a total estimated value of 825,000 euros, each costing between 130,000 and 250,000 euros. The cars allegedly were not registered in the names of the Tate brothers, but in the names of close associates, including their head of security — a method which prosecutors describe as concealment of the origin of funds.
DIICOT has requested the confiscation of the four automobiles, the equivalent of the over 1.25 million dollars from the exploitation of the victim, as well as extended confiscation of other assets.
The charges and current legal status
Andrew Tate, aged 39, has been sent for trial for trafficking in minors, money laundering in continuous form, sexual act with a minor in continuous form and influencing statements.
Tristan Tate, aged 38, is accused of complicity in trafficking in minors, money laundering in continuous form and influencing statements.
The two are currently in detention in the United States, where British authorities have filed a request for extradition. In Romania, the Tate brothers have been sent for trial in a state of liberty and can be tried in absentia, being represented by lawyers.
Magistrates of Bucharest Court are to verify in the preliminary chamber the legality of the indictment and of the evidence administered. A second case in which the Tate brothers are accused of trafficking in persons was previously returned to DIICOT prosecutors and remains in the investigation phase.
