Former politician files complaint against prosecutor with Parliamentary Ombudsman
A former member of parliament who is facing charges for drug-related offences has filed a complaint against the prosecutor to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. The complaint concerns, amongst other matters, a body examination decision that the defence considers lacked legal basis.

A former member of parliament from the Sweden Democrats, who has been charged with several drug-related offences, has turned to the Parliamentary Ombudsman with a complaint against the prosecutor leading the investigation. The complaint primarily concerns a decision on body examination in the form of a hair sample test.
According to the suspect's legal representative, the decision to take the sample was unjustified. Urine and blood samples had already been taken, which the defence argues rendered the hair test superfluous. Furthermore, they contend that the prosecutor made the decision on 19 January, ten days before the accused was even informed that she was suspected of a crime.
– It is impossible to claim that she was unco-operative during questioning when the decision was made before she knew she was a suspect, the defence comments.
The prosecutor previously justified the sample collection by stating that the suspect had been unco-operative during the investigation and that the evidence needed to be strengthened. However, the defence believes this explanation does not hold given the timeline.
The complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman also contains criticism that the prosecutor provided information to journalists about details in the investigation before the suspect had been notified of the criminal suspicion. According to the defence, these statements resulted in the person losing important political positions of trust.
