Two people were injured in a severe apartment fire in Forsbacka near Gävle on Saturday evening. Police have opened an investigation into the fire as suspected arson.

The rescue service was called out on Saturday evening to a residential building in Forsbacka, a locality just west of Gävle. A severe fire had broken out in the property.
Two women were taken to hospital by ambulance after being injured in connection with the fire. According to Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro, spokesperson for the police region Mitt, the two are adults. The condition of both was not known at the latest report.
The authorities have chosen to open a preliminary investigation with the classification of arson. The aim is to establish how the fire started. The scene has been cordoned off and a technical inspection will be carried out.
