On Tuesday evening, shortly before 11pm, police were called to Garnsviken in Sigtuna north of Stockholm. Passersby had made a grim discovery – a human body was in the water.
Police were dispatched to the scene immediately. The area around the discovery site was cordoned off to secure any potential evidence. The body was taken into the custody of the forensic medical examiner. Interviews were conducted with people who were in the vicinity.
How the deceased came to be in the water remains unclear. The authorities have therefore opened a preliminary investigation classified as murder or manslaughter. The deceased's name and age have not yet been established.
