Håkan Malmström, a former politician for Sverigedemokraterna, has been sentenced by Västmanland district court for serious fraud on two occasions, according to sverigesradio.se. Malmström was absent from his regular work to participate in political meetings – and received during the same periods both salary from his employer and political compensation from Västerås city and Region Västmanland.
The sentence was set at 200 hours' community service. Malmström is furthermore to pay damages of 379,530 kronor to Västerås city and 56,512 kronor to Region Västmanland.
As a result of the sentence, Malmström is to relinquish all political posts within the city and region.
