An officer employed by the police force, of pensionable age, has been taken into custody suspected of repeated sexual violence. The remand decision was made in his absence before the raid on his home, reports Aftonbladet.
The raid took place on Tuesday morning. The investigation has been ongoing since autumn 2025, but it was only now that the suspect could be arrested.
The man had been with the force for a long time and had held senior positions. The criminal charges concern at least three separate occasions where coercive sexual acts are said to have been committed during the period 2023 to 2025.
The case is being handled by the special prosecutor's office that deals with crimes committed by persons in particularly sensitive positions, such as police officers and elected officials.
The man's legal representative has declined to comment to Aftonbladet. The prosecutor has also not provided any comments.
