Woman remanded in custody after death on Vättern off Askersund
A woman in her 40s is remanded in custody on suspicion of murder, after a man was found lifeless on board a boat on Vättern and subsequently died, reports gp.se.
On Wednesday morning, two people were reported missing following a boat trip. An extensive search operation was carried out, following which the boat was found with the missing persons on board. The man was then lifeless and could not be saved.
Because the circumstances surrounding the death are unclear, a preliminary investigation into suspected murder was initiated. The woman is remanded in custody on the lower level of suspicion – reasonably suspected – and a new remand hearing is to be held within a week.
"The investigation will now continue with, among other things, establishing what those involved were doing in the time before the crime. Further interviews will be conducted and the deceased's body will also be subjected to an autopsy," says Clara Åbyhammar, senior prosecutor and head of the preliminary investigation, in a press statement.
