A man in his 40s was arrested during the night into Saturday in central Nässjö after a caller heard screaming and crying from a flat. He is suspected of attempted murder, attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment.

Just before half past one in the night into Saturday, police received an alarm from a multi-family house in central Nässjö. Someone in the vicinity had heard screaming and crying from one of the flats and called the police.
When the patrol arrived, they managed to identify the correct flat. Inside the flat was a woman and a man in his 40s. The man was taken by police and is now held in custody, suspected of attempting to kill the woman, attempted rape, and of holding her confined against her will.
The woman did not need to be taken to hospital after the incident. She is reported not to have sustained life-threatening injuries. It has not yet been established whether the man and woman had a previous relationship.
The investigation is ongoing and police do not wish to release further details at this time.
