A 61-year-old man from Härnösand is standing trial accused of forcing his wife into paid sex with approximately 120 different men. The prosecutor has brought charges for serious pimping, eight counts of rape and assault.
According to the indictment, the man is alleged to have advertised his wife on the internet for sex in exchange for payment. Between 2022 and 2025, he is alleged to have earned more than 500,000 Swedish kronor, equivalent to approximately 46,000 euros, from the activity.
To force his wife to submit, the man allegedly threatened her and made her dependent on drugs and alcohol. The prosecutor has described the woman as "in need of protection". She has demanded compensation equivalent to approximately 100,000 euros.
The case has attracted significant attention in Sweden and has been compared to crimes against French woman Gisèle Pelicot. Due to the scale of the case, the verdict was originally scheduled to be handed down the previous Wednesday, but the pronouncement was postponed by a few days.
The verdict is expected to be delivered on Tuesday.
