On Friday, 12 June, Västerås police carried out an operation against a pair of massage salons in the city. The raids followed investigations into procuring that had been initiated.

In addition to the police, the Work Environment Authority, the Tax Agency, and the municipality participated in the action. Officials documented the premises and interviewed the employees.

During conversations with staff, it was emphasised that it is permitted to sell sexual services in Sweden – but that it is prohibited to purchase them. Those working at the salons were asked whether they offered such services.

When the premises were searched, condoms and items that could be used for drug use were found. In a mobile phone, messages were discovered in which people had requested sexual services. These numbers were recorded.
