Seven years' imprisonment for machete attack in Stockholm
A 27-year-old man has been sentenced by the district court to seven years' imprisonment for a serious act of violence in Stockholm city centre. He struck another person with a large cutting weapon on a morning in November 2019.
The person who was attacked had recently been released after serving a sentence for killing a woman he had previously lived with. She left behind a child.
According to Aftonbladet, the perpetrator allegedly shouted that the victim had killed his mother before he struck. He then fled in a car and left the weapon on the pavement.
The convicted man, who was the woman's son and was 20 years old at the time, was sought and later arrested. The court has now determined the sentence to be seven years' imprisonment for attempted murder.
