The District Court in Falun has sentenced ten men for theft and handling of stolen goods involving 70 all-terrain vehicles and motocross bikes worth 450,000 euros. Among those convicted is a 19-year-old Pole.

The District Court in Falun, located north-west of Stockholm, has delivered a judgment against ten men for extensive theft and handling of stolen goods. The group was charged with stealing and distributing 70 all-terrain vehicles and motocross bikes with a total value of 450,000 euros.
Among those convicted are a 19-year-old Polish citizen and two Finns. The most severe sentence – two years and six months' imprisonment – was imposed on a 36-year-old Swedish man. The young Pole was sentenced to one year and four months' imprisonment.
The prosecutor requested that the 19-year-old be deported from the country, but the judge concluded that the man had sufficient ties to Sweden and could remain.
All those convicted are jointly ordered to pay 2.7 million kronor – equivalent to 244,000 euros – in damages to the injured parties.
The gang operated in 2025 in southern Sweden, including in the regions of Dalarna, Uppsala and Stockholm. Police were able to trace the perpetrators thanks to a GPS transmitter hidden in one of the all-terrain vehicles. In addition, position data from mobile telephones contributed to mapping the network.
The men communicated via internet-based messaging services and discussed, among other things, who would bear the cost of hiring a trailer for transporting the stolen goods and what prices different models could fetch upon sale.
Polish police participated in the investigation and seized the stolen goods, which were found in Poland.
