Police in Ljubljana area uncover more than 550 cannabis plants and unregistered pistol
Criminal investigators found modified premises for growing prohibited drugs in the Brezovica and Ivančna Gorica areas. From a 46-year-old and 71-year-old suspect, they seized more than 550 cannabis seedlings, prepared drugs, cannabis resin and a pistol with ammunition without authorisation.
Extensive cannabis growing operation and illegal weapons uncovered in Ljubljana area
In the past week, criminal investigators from the Ljubljana police administration carried out house searches at two men, aged 46 and 71. The activities took place in the Brezovica and Ivančna Gorica areas, where they discovered two premises adapted for growing prohibited plants.
During the searches, which were carried out on the basis of a court order, the authorities seized more than 550 seedlings. In addition, they found already prepared dry drugs, cannabis resin and equipment for production. Along with the drugs, they also seized a firearm with ammunition from one of the suspects, for which he did not have authorisation.
Criminal charges will be filed against both men by police on suspicion of unauthorised production and trafficking in prohibited substances. Regarding the pistol found, proceedings are continuing for a breach of firearms legislation.
