The Mohave County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as John Dee Page Jr., 46, who was taken into custody on Tuesday and booked into the Mohave County Detention Facility in Kingman.

Johnson was shot on 14 December 2016. Emergency crews transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

At the time, detectives processed crime scene evidence and interviewed potential witnesses but were unable to build a sufficiently strong case to support an arrest. The investigation remained open.

Over the following decade, evidence collected from the scene was resubmitted for forensic evaluation, and several individuals were reinterviewed by detectives working alongside Mohave County's special investigations unit. Through that extended process, authorities identified Page as the suspect in the homicide.

Deputies have not disclosed where Page was located when arrested, nor have they specified which evidence ultimately led to his detention. The investigation is described as ongoing.

Page now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
