A Cobb County judge denied bond on Friday for Kingston Bradley, 18, charged with the felony murder and dismemberment of Shanteria "KT" Mosley at a Smyrna apartment in September, fox5atlanta.com reports.

Judge Brendan Murphy ruled after hearing sworn testimony from Smyrna Police Detective Nathaniel Wachowiak and arguments from both the prosecution and defence.

"After carefully evaluating the factors based on everything the court has heard and seen today, Mr. Bradley is not a candidate for bond at this time," Murphy said.

Evidence outlined at bond hearing

Wachowiak testified that investigators recovered a bloody handsaw, cleaning supplies, and bleach-soaked rooms inside the apartment. Officers also found a gun on the premises.

Police discovered Mosley's torso wrapped in trash bags and placed inside a storage tub. Severed body parts were found in the trunk of her own vehicle.

The detective told the court that digital evidence seized from Bradley's phone included "a photo of Shanteria decapitated in Kingston's bedroom."

Suspect and victim were strangers

Authorities said they do not believe Mosley and Bradley knew each other prior to September. Wachowiak testified that Bradley located her contact information through an online escort service.

Bradley's father, Kenneth Bradley, told officers his son has schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, had stopped taking his prescribed medication, and had been abusing over-the-counter drugs.

After the initial interview with the father, officers discovered bloody bedding inside his truck. Authorities have not confirmed whether Kenneth Bradley will face criminal charges in connection with that finding.

Bradley's girlfriend also spoke with investigators. According to Wachowiak, she told them she overheard Kenneth speaking to Kingston on the day of the crime.

"She overheard Kenneth say to Kingston, 'There's a body in here. What did you do? Get rid of this,'" Wachowiak testified.

Arguments from both sides

Defence attorney Paul Arena-Camarillo cited his client's lack of a prior criminal record in requesting leniency.

"We would just ask that a reasonable bond be set in this case due to his lack of criminal history. We would ask for an ankle monitor and house arrest," Arena-Camarillo said.

Cobb County Assistant District Attorney Lindsay Raynor pushed back firmly against any conditions of release.

"This was stranger on stranger, so there is absolutely no conditions that you could put into place that would keep our community safe," Raynor said.

Mosley's mother delivered a victim impact statement during the hearing, weeping as she read it aloud.

Bradley remains in custody on charges of felony murder and concealing the death of another.
