Brooklyn Woman Killed at Park Cookout After Refusing Man's Sexual Advances
Shakeema Davis, a Brooklyn resident, was stabbed to death in front of her 7-year-old son at Lincoln Terrace Park in New York City early Tuesday, according to foxsanantonio.com. The attack occurred after she repeatedly refused a man's sexual advances during a cookout attended by 15 to 20 people.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said the man arrived at the barbecue and persistently asked Davis to have sex with him. When she refused, he fatally stabbed her. Her young son was among those present at the time of the attack.
Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress just after 12:40 a.m. They found Davis suffering from multiple stab wounds across her body. She was transported to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The NYPD has identified "a strong person of interest, as well as the car he used to flee the scene," Kenny said, but investigators have not yet established probable cause to make an arrest. The department released images of the suspect and is urging the public to come forward with any information.
Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website or via X at @NYPDTips. The investigation remains ongoing.
