A woman has been charged with arson after a fire was intentionally set inside a Walmart in Georgetown County, South Carolina, wmbfnews.com reports.

The Georgetown Police Department charged Brandy Moree with arson in the second degree, aggravated breach of peace, and shoplifting on Friday, following a fire at the Walmart on 1310 N. Fraser Street on October 1.

Investigators determined Moree was the individual responsible for deliberately starting the blaze. Officers located her on Highmarket Street near a Dollar General store and took her into custody without incident, according to the Georgetown Police Department.

Georgetown Police Chief Nelson Brown said the incident could have placed numerous community members and Walmart employees in serious danger. "I commend our investigators and patrol officers for their swift and thorough response, which resulted in the identification and apprehension of the individual responsible," Brown said. He also acknowledged the Georgetown Fire Department for their immediate response in safely extinguishing the fire.

The Georgetown Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and no injuries were reported.
