A 25-year-old Ukrainian national Yaroslav Gulyatkin has been arrested and charged with the premeditated murder of his 18-year-old Japanese girlfriend in an apartment in Sofia's Buxton district, according to Novinite.com.
The report was filed early in the morning after the man began shouting in front of the residential building. Neighbours, sensing that he was in an inadequate state, called the police.
Interior Ministry officials arrived at the scene and entered the apartment with the man to calm him down. Inside, they discovered the body of the deceased woman, who was also a foreign national.
The leading version pursued by investigators is that the murder is connected to domestic motives. The circumstances surrounding the death and the precise sequence of events continue to be clarified.
Sofia City Court ordered Gulyatkin to remain in custody during the investigation.
