Drugs hidden in beef seized on Washington Luís Highway

The Integrated Force to Combat Organised Crime in Minas Gerais (FICCO/MG) seized 458.8 kg of narcotics on Thursday (4/6) on Washington Luís Highway in São José do Rio Preto, in the interior of São Paulo. According to gov.br, the shipment was hidden amongst beef transported in a truck.

The operation resulted from intelligence work conducted by FICCO/MG, with support from units in Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo and the Tactical Road Patrol (TOR) of the São Paulo Military Police.

Following official weighing, 94.3 kg of cocaine paste and 8.7 kg of marijuana seeds were recorded. The vehicle's driver was arrested in flagrante and taken to the Federal Police unit for judicial police procedures.

The suspect may face charges for drug trafficking and conspiracy to traffic drugs.

FICCO/MG is coordinated by the Federal Police and comprises the Military, Civil and Penal Police of Minas Gerais, as well as the National Secretariat for Penal Policies (SENAPPEN).
