Operation Taken to Account targets irregularities at TCE-MT

The Federal Police arrested six people on Thursday (29) during Operation Taken to Account, which investigates suspicions of irregularities in administrative contracts and payments to employees of the Court of Accounts of the State of Mato Grosso (TCE-MT). According to g1.globo.com, those detained are Sergio Ricardo de Almeida, Roseli Loss, Adriangelo Barros Antunes, Grhegory Paiva Pires Moreira, Gustavo Fernandes da Silva and Felipe Jose Glinke.

The operation mobilised more than 180 federal police officers and included six preventive detention warrants and 26 search and seizure warrants executed in the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo. The measures were authorised by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and also include the breaking of banking secrecy and the freezing of assets belonging to those under investigation.

The investigations are examining whether the suspension of contracts was used as an instrument of pressure on supplier companies and whether there was favouritism in the release of public funds. Officers are also analysing possible discrepancies in amounts paid to companies and financial movements considered suspicious involving employees of the institution.

Another focus of the investigation is frequent cash withdrawals and possible links between deposits in bank accounts and withdrawals made within the court's own premises.

Should the suspicions be confirmed, the conduct under investigation could constitute crimes against public administration, money laundering and participation in a criminal organisation. The operation aims to gather evidence regarding the management of contracts and payments, as well as to identify other possible individuals involved in the irregularities.
