A guarantees control judge ordered the deprivation of liberty for Matthew Foster Martinson, a British national accused of the homicide of Natalia Villalba, aged 36, whose body was found inside a suitcase in an apartment in the Chicó neighbourhood.

A guarantees control magistrate determined that a man originally from the United Kingdom must remain incarcerated whilst the investigation against him proceeds for the homicide of a woman of thirty-six years. The body of Natalia Villalba was discovered on eighteenth June in a residence in the Chicó sector, in the northern zone of the country's capital, inside a piece of travel luggage.
Detectives from the CTI managed to establish that the deceased would have given permission to the now detained man to enter the apartment where she was living temporarily. However, upon arriving at the residential complex, the foreigner would have noted a different identity in the entry register, which the authorities interpret as a strategy to make it difficult for him to be tracked later.
Inside the property, and once he confirmed that the woman had no company, the detained man would have physically assaulted her on multiple occasions using a blunt object, which caused her death. After that, he would have placed the body in a suitcase, took it to the bathroom and left hot water running over it. He would also have carried out various actions to eliminate blood traces, changed the clothes he was wearing when he entered and discarded the previous garments by throwing them down the building's waste chute before leaving.
Investigators estimate that the foreigner was inside the apartment for around three hours. Likewise, it is presumed that he stole the victim's mobile device to prevent any connection being established between the two of them. The discovery of the body occurred five days later, when the person responsible for cleaning the property arrived to perform their duties and alerted the authorities.
A representative of the prosecuting authority from Bogotá's Unit of Life attributed the offences of aggravated femicide and concealment of evidence to him. The accused rejected the charges against him.
The arrest was made on twenty-seventh June at the Mariscal Sucre air terminal in Quito, Ecuador, following an international alert. Twenty-four hours later he was expelled from that country and transferred to the El Dorado terminal in Bogotá, where CTI officials made the arrest order effective.
