An operation deployed in the department of Cundinamarca concluded with the apprehension of a dozen individuals accused of belonging to a network dedicated to the trade of illicit substances. The structure, nicknamed "Los Oporto," was reportedly active in various points across the Sabana territory, with particular concentration in the municipality of Facatativá.
The department's governor, Jorge Emilio Rey, announced the results of the intervention through a message on digital platforms. He explained that the operation was carried out by detectives from the SIJIN, a unit linked to the Sabana Police Force, following a prolonged period of surveillance of the group's movements.
According to initial investigations, the detained individuals allegedly distributed drugs in multiple municipalities across different provinces of the department. Additionally, there is suspicion that the organisation had links to the Clan del Golfo, although the specific connections are still under investigation.
Rey stated that the dismantling of this network responds to one of the objectives set at the beginning of his administration: to dismantle structures that profit from criminal activities in the area. He described the result as a significant advance in that direction.
